Utstilling: Sarah Kazmi - Cooking, Time?

Welcome to the vernissage of Sarah Kazmi’s solo exhibition "Cooking, Time?" at the Intercultural Museum in Tøyenbekken 5, Thursday, April 18th at 6 PM.

Cooking, Time? explores the immigration from Pakistan to Norway in the 1960s and 70s. Through food and food traditions as the central theme, the exhibition questions how the history of Pakistani immigration has been experienced, written, and preserved. Artist Sarah Kazmi and curator Noor Bhangu look at public archives to understand labor conditions, leisure activities, and the encounters between migrants and Norwegian society.

The exhibition will be opened by journalist and award-winning author Shazia Majid and State Secretary Even Hagen from the Ministry of Culture and Equality. Performance by Sarah Kazmi and Mudassir Sheikh. Pakistani food will be served.
