BIO
Maya Økland is an artist, photographer and a curator. Her photo book Stranger in Motherland will be published by Teknisk Industri in May 2017. She holds an MA in photography from the Bergen Academy of Art in 2005, and has participated in several art exhibitions in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands and Greenland. Her work was published in the Norwegian anthology The Meaning of Sex in 2007, and she writes regularly for the feminist magazine Fett. In 2010 she co-founded the artist run gallery KNIPSU in Bergen together with Hilde Jørgensen. Lives and works in Oslo.
