In this thought-provoking show, Calderón explores Moss as a post-industrial city, confronting the deep transformations brought on by the closure of its once-defining factories. Through a compelling mix of photography, sculpture, and hybrid photo-sculptures, she asks: What happens when industry disappears? Who are the new inhabitants? And how does a city rebuild its identity from the ashes of its past?
The title of the exhibition is a direct quote from Fabrikk Antologi—the 2013 Møllebyen Literature Festival anthology—penned by Power Ekroth, Bernhard Ellefsen, and Remi Nilsen. Calderón discovered the phrase during her research and adopted it as a conceptual anchor for her work.
Moss’s history as an industrial powerhouse—defined by the hum of machinery, the scent of cellulose, and a strong working-class culture—began to unravel in the early 2000s with the closure of major employers like the Peterson factory, Helly Hansen, Moss Glassworks, and Moss Shipyard.
Today, the city of 51,000 is undergoing a dramatic transition. Former industrial sites now host institutions like an international school, the Tax Administration, and cultural venues such as Verket Scene and Hotel Riviera.
During her extended residency in Moss from 2024 to spring 2025, Calderón immersed herself in the city’s social fabric. The resulting body of work—ranging from film and photography to large-scale sculpture—is exhibited at House of Foundation, with a major site-specific installation located in Heilmannparken in central Moss.

This five-year initiative by House of Foundation gives artists an entire calendar year to research, produce, and exhibit their work. In 2025, artist Charlotte Thiis-Evensen leads the project and has invited Yamile Calderón, Vilhelm Christensen, and Jon Benjamin Tallerås to participate. Together, they will examine Moss’s transformation from an industrial hub to a post-industrial city, creating new works both individually and collaboratively.
Their projects will span gallery installations, public interventions, and outdoor exhibitions culminating in the fall of 2025.
